Some Closing Thoughts...

I will provide a fuller closing entry a little later, when I get over the shock and "national hangover"

(I have severe separation anxiety or something)

Thoughts:

Canada, GOLD in GOLDS
Germany, SILVER in SILVERS
USA, BRONZE in GOLDS, GOLD in BRONZES.

LOL...

This little 2 week get-together was an amazing example of global community coming together.

*sniff*

more to come later...

OWN THE (majority of the) PODIUMS on which we stand...

Well -- I am thrilled.

Despite a spoiler loss (or so it felt like) in Womens Curling yesterday (in actuality, the Swedish rink played an amazing match)... we still have over taken the Gold Podium Count by a respectable leap.

(A) CANADA has earned more medals than any other olymics (and guarenteed even more)

(B) WE HAVE THE MOST GOLD... and maintaining that statistic sounds very very doable.

(C) THIS HAS BEEN THE BEST OLYMPICS EVER, in terms of hosting, entertainment, and fan engagement (including tv ratings).

HAVE FUN EVERYONE!

Favourite Songs

Hey Olympics Fans,

So, I wasn't really going to post these two, because of copyrights, bla bla bla... but you know what...
you asked for them, you cheer for them, here they are...

Obviously, they are copyrighted NINTENDO and CTV or whatever... buy their products, watch their programming, etc... you know.

ENJOY.

I Believe, CTV's Vancouver 2010 Olympics Theme

Now then... there are still more national anthems to be posted, thanks for your patience.

As for today... well, I might be playing outside Science World at the SOCHI exhibit, and of course, I will be watching the USA-CANADA hockey game, and probably playing some O CANADA nearby to the venue... will keep you updated ASAP.

CHEERS,

Yaletown Train Station

Well today was fun.

Japadog#2 from 1130-1pm, which was more FUN than Profitable...

then I played in front of City Centre station from ~4-5, which was neither really.

BUT TONIGHT from 11pm-11:45pm outside of Yaletown skytrain, after the fireworks...
wow, SO FUN, and THANKS EVERYBODY for the generous donations.

So, tomorrow you may see me around town as I figure out how to get our tickets to MENS HOCKEY (Germany vs Belarus)... as result, I am not sure if/when I will be able to play.. including (and this sucks) whether I will be able to make it to Yaletown skytrain by 11pm, sax in hand (hockey game starts 9pm).

so, stay tuned to the blog to find out more.

I Big SHOUT OUT today goes to my canada-lady fan who donated me a cool $5 bill; and to the ozzies that let me play Waltzing Matilda for them... The Finland team was pretty enthusiastic tonight too, as were the Mario Bros fans... lol,

Cheers,
~T~

Jitter before my debut...

Hello friends, family, and new acquaintances!

Well, its early Tuesday morning before my first day playing national anthems ++ in the streets of Vancouver. It is supposed to be sunny and warm-ish tomorrow and the rest of the week (!). I should be sleeping, but I have songs running through my head.
Maybe I am suffering the same sort of "looping mind insomnia" today as perhaps Jeremy Wotherspoon, or maybe Silver Medalist Mike Robertson -- but the difference being I haven't done anything yet... and of course, I am not an incredible olympic athlete.

So, I will take the lead from their courage and awesome performances, and sleep/rest, then get ready to debut tomorrow... *

WOW, I walked around town this afternoon when I arrived: awesome stuff... going to have to check some of the free events out myself soon!

* ...MY PLAN FOR TUESDAY (Day #5)

Start ~12pm (lunchtime) @ JAPA-DOG, Burrard @ Smith (NW corner)
- ANTHEM = JAPAN,  of course!
- "Kimi-ga-yo" (Nippon Anthem) with my "spicy terrimayo!" (japa-dog)... mmm

So, pop over to see, hear, and of course EAT! (plus, grab one of my "cards")

AS FOR THE REST OF THE DAY... I think I will let the wind take me beyond J.D... perhaps to the Germany Fan Zone on CORDOVA... hmmm...

...but stay tuned to the blog as I post updates (including GPS locations, photos, videos... and as always, if you find anything on my site interesting enough to clik on... well... everybody wins!

Freestyle: Alexandre Bilodeau wins moguls, Canada's First Gold

We did it!!! GOOOLLD!
(and a North-Shore boy in Australia's silver Dale Begg-Smith to boot!)

Finally! And now all the Jen Heils and Kristina Groves and all the rest of us Canadians can simply enjoy every performance and every medal, regardless of colour (how Canadian indeed-- with the exception of our hockey teams perhaps)...

Clara, et al... Thanks so much and for everything to come.

There will be plenty of golden moments ahead of us, I can't wait.

Heading over to Vancouver tomorrow...

Well, she didn't quite repeat her golden performance from Turino and bring us our first Olympic Gold on home soil... But Jen Heil brought us an amazing first medal.
Miss Kearney, congratulations! And to the rest of the athletes: Canadian, American, Japanese and everybody else... You mogul freestylers made us all (incl a motley crew of weekend warriors at Mount Washington Alpine on Vancouver Island this weekend) VERY VERY excited.

Thanks. O Canada. I believe!

20 Anthems, 10 Days - at the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympic Games

The Jazzy_2010 Project is all about having fun! :-)

It's about welcoming visitors from all over the world to the streets of our beautiful city.
It's about promoting a healthy and sustainable global community; togetherness through sport.

It's basically about a guy with a lot of Olympic Spirit: Jazzy_T -- between jobs, very patriotic, extremely excited... and not that bad of an alto saxophone player to boot.

So... I am going to take my saxophone around the city for 10 days during the games... and play the national anthems of 20 olympian countries.
In so doing, I hope to be a positive ambassador for our country, province and community; and make Vancouver as inviting and fun for as many people as possible.

Follow my sounds as you travel the city... Say "hi"... teach me a phrase in your mother tongue... comment on this blog... teach me the history and the lyrics to your national anthem...

Whatever! I want to meet you!
Let the Olympic Movement achieve its goals, and bring us all closer together!

Finally: the convergence of music and sport, and in the city I love...

As I was taught to say: Tuum Est... & A Mari Usque Ad Mar...
cheers,
~T~
